Super Sloppy Joes Recipe

Get a real taste of the American game day with this delicious sloppy joes recipe. Serve with fluffy white buns and enjoy this American classic.
- 500 g Minced beef or veggie option
- 1 Large Onion
- 1 Green Bell Pepper
- 1 Stick of celery
- 3 Cloves of Garlic
- 1.5 Tbsp MKS Sloppy Joe Mix
- 2 Tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 Cup Veggie Stock
- 400 g Tin Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- Salt
- Heat oil in a large frying pan and saute onion, bell pepper and celery until soft and translucent. Add garlic and MKS sloppy joe mix and fry for a further 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add beef or quorn mince stir and lightly fry until brown all over.
- Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes. Then add veggie stock, tin of tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a boil. Cook on a low simmer for 30-40 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Lightly butter buns and add a generous dollop of the sloppy joes mixture on to each bun. They key here is to remember it's called sloppy joes for a reason.
Tips and Trick
If you want a thicker sauce try mixing 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water in a cup and add it to the mixture cook for a few more minutes and the sauce will start to noticeably thicken up.
